LABIAPLASTY
A treatment for enlarged or irregular labia often done for cosmetic enhancement or medical reasons. The medical term for enlarged labia minora is labial hypertrophy. After labiaplasty, the vulva has a more youthful look as the labia minora no longer protrude outside the outer vaginal lips.
Labiaplasty or labia minora reduction is a relatively minor surgical procedure that reduces and/or reshapes the labia minora, the skin surrounding the vaginal opening. In some women, large labia minora are visible when the legs are not apart, or are barely separated, causing embarrassment and self-consciousnes. Enlarged labia may also be noticeable in tight fitting pants, and can cause discomfort during intercourse or with exercise. Labiaplasty can greatly enhance the cosmetic appearance of the outer vagina giving many women greater confidence and self esteem.
Some women are born with large or irregular labia. Others develop this condition after childbirth or with aging. Whatever the cause, you do not have to live with large labia if they cause you pain or lower your confidence in yourself. If you are unhappy with the way your labia look, feel or interfere in your life, labiaplasty may be the solution you've been looking for. This outpatient surgery has little downtime and relatively pain free. The scars are very fine and hidden within natural skin creases and are very difficult to spot. Sensation is improved since there are no flaps of extra skin in the way. Women whose labia that was irritated and painful will often find relief after surgery.
Some women may also have fat deposits in her pubic region, which causes a bulge in clothes. This deposit may have been present since birth or acquired with weight gain or puberty. This can usually be eliminated by liposuction at the same time.
Labiaplasty can be performed alone or combined with other procedures such as liposuction of the abdomen, pubic area or hips. Some prefer to have their tummy tuck at the same time to complete the 'package'.
